The $700 Fully Loaded Dygma Defy Keyboard
Summary: "I use Arch, BTW."
I tried Mint and Fedora, but nvidia drivers were driving me nuts and gaming performance wasn't good with the default drivers. Installing new drivers is unnecessarily complicated and can crash your system with any mistake. I switched to Pop Os with kde and now everything is fine :)
Amazing
wtf is this list.😂
What I took from Theo’s video was that you shouldn’t contribute just to contribute, which is absolutely true. I would urge EVERYONE to only contribute to projects they use and personally want to improve. No one should be going out to GitHub thinking “Okay, I’m gonna find some open source project I can contribute to”. And if you have no projects that fit this criteria, don’t contribute. The fact that everyone should is honestly a simplification worse than Theo’s.
We should all do what we can to grow the community. Even if you can't code, you can report issues, help test, donate to devs whose projects you use often, write documentation, etc.
I got issue, i wanted to switch to Linux, but any distro i try i get bigger CPU usage when watching UA-cam, and laptop fans are annoying. I have Ryzen 5300U, Vega 6 integreted GPU, tried Chromium and Firefox with HW acc flags enabled, mesa and amgpu driver on Ubuntu, EndevourOS, LinuxLite, Debian 12, still i get usage more then on Windows. And Microsoft well, you know why i want to switch. But going to linux i find myself on google a lot, even for simple thing like resizing windows on xfce is annoying, cause you can't grab edge easy. Then trackpad being worse and so on. On Windows i get 6% cpu and 2-3% gpu usage. On Endevour OS watching YT i get 13-15% CPU and GPU, yes ambient mode is off. Even if KDE is slower to lunch stuff, i would use it. MX Linux i found is fastest, but i need to fix window resizing on xfce by changing window manager and a lot of tweaking which i don't want to do, and why does only KDE have GPU usage in System Monitor, and i have to add it by myself.?
I am only using linux distros for past 10years, I can vouch ubuntu is the most stable distro out there,
Never heard someone call Brave bloated. But, ok.
Linux lite for me
I noticed after the secondary keyboard layout, it forces you to connect to the internet. You can bypass it with Shift-F10 and type: oobe\BypassNRO. Then you'll have the option after the computer restarts, "I don't have internet."
Hey Good Sir Chris could you share your css config. I really like monospace fonts and like the way you've put em especially in the about:preferences page. I hope you consider my request. Thank you in andvance.
Never use the same boot partition for win & Lin....big mistake. Use two separate HDDs and two separate boot partitions, one on each HDD. This is for desktops only. Laptops, you can't do much with these days.
Fix windows bootup in a multiboot computer
what is that desktop background image pic from! NEED IT
resistance is futile: once addicted always addicted. i wish i could give it up. Good for you man. Congrats on the blue pill. How would that work when you are in your computer? a dumb computer? addicted to youtube on my computer.
Comodo doesn't make the cut, I see.
Great video! One question: I can’t figure out where exactly to start with learning to code applications specifically. Game engines make games easy to create but to create apps you are just reading writing code with no simplification of the process, so is application coding just something to learn in a community college or something or are there good resources online for learning how to make UI and under the hood things and how to use toolkits like GTK and such?
Its a shame, Fedora is likely the best distro listed
On the formating partition step I get error that I haven't selected anything , but I selected partition 1
Too bad Apple tries to makes its OS worse and worse with every itteration too, and it is even worse, as Apple does that EVERY YEAR!
when i go to disks properties i dont get that disk cleanup option anywhere (windows 11)
WinDirStat is cool too
great video, good info.
This is super-helpful but one of the things I noticed is that when you make changes your profile .ps1 file, it automatically replaces itself when you reload it (deleting your changes). Is there a way you can add your own functions?
1:20 That seems to be a very wrong suggestion. If the laptop is heating then it means that processor is operating on the higher side of frequencies and adding a cooler might cool the base down but power draw will be same. Also, unlike metals, semi conductors reduce their resistance as they heat up.

What about Crowdstrike?
What does any of this have to do with the integrity or performance of the browser?
I think I've been, let's say, a bit overenthusiastic in my use of Revo Uninstaller...my newly built system worked like a charm for a month or so and now is acting up badly. Freezing and crashing more and more by the day. Tried the command line route to check for corrupt system files and nothing seems to be out of order. Still, the file explorer keeps crashing, ZBrush freezes while manipulating high poly geometry (which was handled by my PC perfectly fine before)...file explorer seems to be especially upset by me using the multiple desktops feature. I'm considering a clean reinstall of Windows at this point 😰
I've started using linux (Ubuntu 16.04) in 2017 with my Dell Inspiron that I buyed, since then I've tried using Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Puppy and BlendOS, gonna try the other distributions in this list especially on the "Amazing for New User"/ "Creative and Unique" and "Lightweight" section, Great Video!.
do you have to pay for windows 11 on 2025?
Why is it that you can't use this on a VM?
on github is a project called tiny11. is this one safe to use? i mean not the source on github, i mean the source code of it? dont have the skills to check for myself. heard, that this tiny11 installs unsafe stuff.
Could you please do a guide for FEDORA 40 please?
I've gone through so many of these and remember as a kid during the 90's being so fed up with Nortons and McAfee especially. Both brought my computer to a crawl when doing a scheduled scan, and McAfee was just hell to get rid of. I remember using AVG at some point as well back then, but can't say I remember my experience with it, obviously it didn't piss me off though 🤣. Heard of Avast and Kaspersky but never did use them. Windows Defender and MalwareBytes are the only two I've used for the past 15 years or so now, and have yet to fail me.
this is a godsend for my first day on debian and linux
0:36 OK..... NO REAL SYSTEM ADMIN HAS THE MATRIX SCREENSAVER ON THEIR SERVER I can't take you seriously if you're gonna display that in the server cabinet
What do i do when a program isnt found in apt install?
The pointless category is a strange one. Sure, it's mostly convenience but that's not exactly irrelevant. Like Kali: I can cook rice in a pot but that doesn't mean a rice cooker is pointless. If you cook a lot of rice then optimizing the process makes sense. For "new" cooks you can argue that there's value in learning how to do it at a basic level, and I would agree with you, but if you're new to cooking in general then being able to cook perfect rice, so you don't have to learn everything at once, has value. So being new to hacking and having a complete setup with almost everything you could need, makes it easier to start learning everything else. Similarly I wouldn't show a new developer NeoVim as their first IDE and tell them to figure it out. I would get them a full featured IDE, so they can focus on learning programming.
5:45 What a Joke! Kaspersky is a (ru) kremlin asset. And it's banned in the US from 06.20.2024 for Russian FSB links
Chrome has changed its UI. Bookmarks are widen up which I hate. I moved to Opera GX but I dont like it. New Tab cant be changed, I like to have google as a new tab to quickly navigate to gmail etc. Ive been navugating this way for years, I dont like any changes
this utility saved too much space in my c drive ... thanks
I switched from Win10 to Linux this past Monday, and chose Kubuntu. It certainly is a good step from Windows to Linux. Easy to get going with. And I can tell I'll outgrow it. Not unlike training wheels on a first bicycle.
Hi Chris, if you are using Fedora, a non-Ubuntu distro, do you know what commands do you type in instead?
Did you ever release that script? This looks amazing!!!
Once, when avast was still decent, one installation of it broke on my Win 7 PC and basically locked down everything, as I was unable to click anything. I had only a 5 second window to do anything after log on, when the PC restarted and I had to force the PC into safe mode. For this I had to memorize the exact button positions to enable safe mode on the next boot.
Source: I activated McAffee once for the 1 year free trial, before Windows Defender became really good. McAffee is like a malware. As soon as you activate the free trial with your new device or install it, it is very hard to fully remove it from the computer. Even after the main program is uninstalled, it leaves many background services that are still running with no normal way to uninstall! They can not be killed via the Task Manager! Also, the remaining files can not be removed normally either. I had to boot either in safe mode or an USB with bootable OS like Linux (don't remember, it was 2016 or so) to break the remaining parts of the software and later being able to delete anything related to McAffee from the Windows registry. It would have been easier to reinstall windows at that point.
Harbiden daha uzun yapın
I didn't switch from XP to Vista until mid 2008. By that time the OS and drivers were improved dramatically and the system I had built was basically the fastest gaming hardware money could buy. So my experience with it was excellent. My favourite OS though is Windows 7. I really dislike Windows 11. In fact I am experimenting with Zorin OS now, as I don't want Windows for my daily driver any more. I still use Windows 11 for my gaming machine though. Linux just can't compete for that, though it's improved a lot.
